Hello February!

This week we say Hello to February: Black History Month, we prepare for the NFL Super Bowl XLVII, and start planning for Valentine's Day.

We've got a jam packed post for you to enjoy, let's get to it.

Black History Month

Each year, the City of Toronto is proud to support events and exhibits scheduled for Black History Month, inviting members of the public to explore and celebrate the heritage, traditions and culture of African-Canadians.

Many events are happening all over the city, here are the ones you should check out close to home:

Daniels Spectrum invites you to join the 3MW Collective as they celebrate the Opening Reception of a new gallery exhibit that will be displayed on the second floor of Daniels Spectrum.

3MW is a group of three mixed-race women artists using portraiture in both painting and photography to address ideas of mixed-race identity.
The subjects in their work are people who have parents, grandparents, and ancestors from different cultural backgrounds. The faces of these “models” do not conform to society’s outdated notions of human classification. These faces are loaded with issues of colonialism, racism, shadeism, as well as questions of history and identity.
This exhibit is TONIGHT, Friday, February 1st from 7 - 9pm.
FREE at Daniels Spectrum, 585 Dundas St.
